Starting August 7th we will be affiliated with Mayhem Athlete Affiliate Programming.</strong></p> <p><br /> As coaches our number one priority is to provide a workout experience that gives time to teach our members how to improve and grow in a structured and safe way. By switching to Mayhem programming we will be able to offer different “levels” to the Metcon each day.</p> <ul> <li><strong>Compete</strong>: This track is for those looking for an extra push. If you are someone who likes to compete locally this track is for you. It is considered RX+.</li> <li><strong>Freedom</strong>: This track is considered RX. If you generally do the workouts as they are written on the board, this track is for you</li> <li><strong>Independence</strong>: This track is a scaled version of the RX Freedom version. It is designed for those that are still learning and may not have all the CrossFit skills mastered</li> <li><strong>Liberty</strong>: This track is modified to be the least technical. It is designed for those that are brand new to CrossFit or may have limitations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>In addition to our every day CrossFit workouts you will have access to several different tracks including:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Body Building</li> <li>Olympic Lifting</li> <li>At Home Workouts</li> <li>Endurance</li> <li>Running</li> <li>Spin</li> <li>L.I.F.E - geared towards senior citizens</li> <li>Teens</li> <li>Monthly Challenge</li> </ul> <p><strong>Here is a look into the training cycle “Here Comes The Boom” for the next 8 weeks</strong></p> <p><strong>Strength</strong>: This cycle is designed to help gain strength and consistency in the Olympic Lifts with added power lifts mixed in. We will work on the Snatch (squat), Clean (squat), and Push Jerk. Strength will be held to just 3 days per week, with two lifts performed on 2 of the days and a single power lift on the 3rd.</p> <p><strong>Workouts</strong>: Skill and Volume will start to build while athletes will want to try new movements and events completed in the CrossFit Games. We will add certain events from the competition throughout the next couple of weeks (Affiliate style) for all to enjoy!</p> <p><strong>Monthly Challenges: Each month there will be a new challenge that we can all participate in together! </strong></p> <ul> <li>The month of August is an Ab Challenge!</li> <li>Monday-Friday there will be a new challenge in Wodify</li> <li>All those who complete ALL the workouts will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 credit towards anything in our retail area.</li> </ul> <p><strong>The Challenge:</strong> Complete ALL 23 Ab Challenge Workouts in August. A different workout will be given every weekday in August (Saturdays and Sundays are off). This is a challenge that ANY fitness level can participate in. We will give modification options for each workout.</p> <p><strong>Challenge Dates:</strong> Every weekday (Monday through Friday) in August.<br /> <br /> <strong>Scoring:</strong> Score each Ab Challenge workout completed. You cannot make up for past days, so get it done on the day it’s listed.<br /> <br /> On August 31st, there will be a separate score where you note if you successfully completed the challenge every weekday throughout the challenge.</p> <p>We are so excited for this new change! Autumn has been a member for 4 years now! Autumn had gained 20 pounds working a desk job and was tired of feeling weak and sick. With a sports background she has loved CrossFit. She says, “I wanted to try CrossFit because it had dynamic movements but still had an individual aspect to it so I could get my own pace as I learned.”  </p> <p>Since joining CrossFit Autumns confidence has dramatically increased. She beleives she can conquer hard things when they come her way. She has confidence in her own skin, loving herself and her human body for the amazing things it’s capable of doing. She believes that she’s stronger and more capable and she is more confident to try new things and meet new people which can allow her to be more vulnerable. </p> <p>Outside the gym, she’s noticed a difference in her health. She says,”I used to get sick 6-8 times a year. Mild colds and annoying things. Now I can go a whole year and not get sick. "Through CrossFit I’ve gotten stronger, but it’s forced me to prioritize sleep and nutrition as well.”</p> <p>She has also been able to get rid of her back pain. She was in a serious car accident a while back and has had severe back pain ever since. CrossFit has helped her strengthen her back and core muscles to avoid injuries.</p> <p>We asked Autumn what type of advice she would give someone who is looking into starting their fitness journey. This is what she said. “When I started I couldn’t run 200m. I had to walk and would shake after mild rowing. That told me how unhealthy I was. Your body was meant to move and be dynamic. </p> <p>USE IT, take care of it, love it and it will thank you. You can modify workouts to be appropriate to your level and still get results and still have fun. My whole outlook on life has changed in all areas and it all started with CrossFit. </p> <p>Autumn we love having you in our classes! Your smile and drive make our mornings so bright! He was nervous about starting because of all the cardio and weightlifting. He went through our On-Ramp program with Coach Kimberly which helped him feel ready to jump into his first class.</p> <p>To get to know Gustavo we asked him to share a unique fact. This is What he said, “Just this month I completed a year of residency in Arizona. My wife and daughters and I came from Venezuela seeking greater security and a better future for all of them.<br /> <br /> Approximately 20 years ago in Venezuela I had a motorcycle accident and had open fractures in both arms and a fissure in my pelvis. My recovery was very slow and I lost a lot of mobility and strength in my arms and legs. In addition to that 1 year ago I had Bariatric Surgery, (Gastric Bypass) that made me lose more than 100lbs after the operation.”</p> <p>Since joining CrossFit Gustavo has noticed a huge change in his physical and mental health. Due to the operation Gustavo lost weight and muscle mass very quickly. Doing CrossFit has managed to minimize the loss of muscle mass. Mentally CrossFit distracts you, improves your mood and relieves stress while taking class.</p> <p>He also says,”What I appreciate the most is that I created a new habit for me that I know will be a part of my whole life from now on.”<br /> <br /> Outside of the gym Gustavo says, “1 year ago I couldn’t even bend down to pick up some keys and if I managed to do it I would get tired very quickly. Now, little by little I feel that I am better at mobility, resistance training, and strength. All this makes me active day by day.”</p> <p>We asked Gustavo what type of advice would he give someone who is thinking about starting their fitness journey. “Always think of you. You have to have an active life and fight everyday to be a better version of yourself. CrossFit is not just about exercising, but about being part of a big family that has a common goal and that is: to have and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many thanks to Coach Amy, Coach Andrew and my brother in law for being so patient, explaining to me every day how to do the exercises, and always watching out for injuries in the learning process.”</p> <p>Gustavo, you are killing it in the gym with your consistency! When you’re in the right position you want to be able to not hold the bar while performing a back squat.<br /> <br /> Getting the bar over head - He touched on proper hand placement on the bar. How we should be using our lats to bring the bar over head not our shoulders. Jimmy also gave us some great pointers on how to bring the bar back to your shoulders smoothly.<br /> <br /> How to load your hips properly at the beginning of a snatch. When you get down into the hole opening your knees a bit and putting that load into your hips before you start the movement. We want our hips to be loaded so we take the movement out of our back and use our hips and legs for power</p> <p>We had a good turn out and learned so much.
