Athlete of the Month - Kim Riggs!

This months member spotlight goes out to Kim Riggs! 🥳👏🏻Kim has been with CFP for a little over a year but she’s been doing CrossFit for 10 years! She loves the fact that she can just show up and do the work, without having to plan.. She says, “ I like pushing myself and CrossFit naturally provides that opportunity.”

CrossFit has helped Kim in all aspects of her life. “I feel like it’s sort of paying it forward to yourself to stay active.” 🏃🏻‍♀️💪🏻

To get to know Kim a little better we asked her to share some unique facts that we might not know about. “I have been married for 21 years and have 4 kids, 19, 17, 16, &12. I have a nursing degree and played soccer but being a mom is the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done.”

We asked Kim what advice she would give someone who is thinking about starting their fitness journey, Here’s what she said. “I would recommend CrossFit to anyone who’s thinking about it. I have been in classes with 8 year olds to 80 year olds. Everything is scalable! Don’t be intimidated, and always come back no matter how sore you are. CrossFit is a worldwide gym that becomes part of your family.”

Kim, we love having you in our classes. You’re strong with crazy endurance! Keep it up!

October monthly challenge….is going to be a step up challenge! 😃🥳🍑

You may be asking why Step-ups?! We are training to get us ready for our Veteran’s Day (November 11th) Hero WOD “Chad”. 😎

Chad was created in honor of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson and is performed across the world to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

The workout “Chad” is 1,000 box step-ups for time, wearing a 45/35 pound ruck pack/vest.

Each week through the month of October we will accumulate step ups, the step ups goal will be different each week.
🍑Week 1 - 10/1-10/7 - Accumulate 200 step-ups
🍑Week 2 - 10/8-10/14 - Accumulate 400 step-ups
🍑Week 3 - 10/15 - 10/21 - Accumulating 600 steps-ups
🍑Week 4 - 10/22 - 10/28 - Accumulating 800 steps-ups

The step ups can be performed on a 20” box. If you are planning on performing Chad weighted then the challenge reps should be weighted as well, but not a requirement.
Any step-ups performed throughout the week will count towards your weekly total. They can be in a workout, at the gym, from home, outside, anything counts! 🥳
